Περιγραφή

Daphne, in Greek mythology, was a nymph, the daughter of the river Pinios, whom her father transformed into the famous bush, to escape the love of Apollo. Apollo, as soon as he learned what had happened, cut a few branches from the plant and wove, in memory of the nymph, a laurel wreath.
In ancient Greece, laurel had a special meaning, as it mainly expressed the respect and reward of the effort. In many competitions and events, laurel wreaths were used to crown the athletes.

In many villages they use the pulp of the leaves together with chickpea flour to knead the seven-leavened bread. Used as a flavoring in vermouth, ice cream, pastries, bakery, soups, pasta and canned meat.
